By the end: spam gets filtered out automatically, and real comments still come through.

How this page works: tap a section to open it. Each section ends with a Next button.

Step 1 of 5

Why Filter

Your comments are your storefront.

When a new visitor opens your post and the first comments are crypto offers and "DM me" bots, your post looks abandoned. Instagram has built-in filters that move those comments into a hidden section you can review. Nobody gets blocked, and nobody gets notified.

Step 2 of 5

Three Switches

In this order. Each one takes a minute.

Switch 1 — the main filter
Switch 2 — your custom list

Switch 3 — the spike shield
Bonus — protect your focus
Step 3 of 5

Do Not Touch

Filters should catch spam, not your customers.

  • Don't turn comments off. A post with no comments loses the conversation that helps it travel.
  • Don't add normal words like "link," "price," or "where" to your list. Real customers use them.
  • Don't block someone over one odd comment. Hide it, or use Restrict if it keeps happening.
  • Check hidden comments once a week. Open a post's comments, scroll to the bottom, and tap View hidden comments. Real people land there sometimes.
